I Wish I Had This Six Weeks Earlier

What's Your Story?

One of the most powerful methods of selling
anything online is by telling a story.

People are captivated by stories and love
listening to them.

And if you have a good story to tell, it can not
only help you to sell a ton of your products or
services, people will *also* pay to hear a story.

For example, if you look at Hollywood movies, they
are simply just stories.

Last weekend, the new movie "Wolverine" took over
$87 million in gross movie receipts.

One of the best story tellers in the online
marketing arena in my opinion is Frank Kern. He
uses videos to tell his story and in fact, there
usually is some sort of symbolic reason behind
the theme of his videos.

For example, a while ago he did a series of videos
that started with him driving his car and ending
with him at the beach.

If you followed closing, the message that he was
trying to get across with him ending at the beach
was that he had reached his *final* destination.

If you look at the videos being done currently
behind the guys at LaunchTree, you can see that
they are also trying to tell a story.

Heck, they go as far as making their first video
look like a Hollywood movie premiere.

What is your final destination online?

Since you are on my list, it is obvious that it is
to make money online.

And it doesn't matter if you don't have a product
or service to sell. You can apply this to
affiliate marketing.

Since I am involved in CPA marketing, I have seen
a countless number of flogs appear promoting
dieting related offers.

What is a flog?

It is the short term for "fake blog."

Many people have set up *fake* dieting blogs
telling a story in order to get people to fill out
the dieting CPA offer that can pay the affiliate
as much as $40 per lead.

Some of these affiliates go as far as even faking
the comments.

These blogs are fake with pictures of women who
have never used dieting supplements like Acai
berry.

These fake blogs are not only unethical and
illegal, the FTC has now started to crack down on
these type of misleading blogs.

But the fact remains that these type of blogs work
extremely well because they tell a story.

I know some affiliates who were generating over
$100,000 a day in affiliate CPA commissions with
these type of blogs.

This just stresses my point that stories work.
And if you can make them work doing it *ethically*,
you could make a ton of money.

Zango Has Gone Bust

Sorry I have not sent a PPV update in a zillion
years.

First, Zango has gone bankrupt as of April 21,
2009.

This is a huge blow to the PPV industry as Zango

The death of zip/email submits

I've been doing this business for more than 2 years with consistent success... and I've completely stopped promoting these offers.

Why? Because the offers are garbage. The advertisers are abusing these lists and not letting people opt-out. Additionally, prizes are rarely fulfilled in the way they are advertised. We all know that.

To make things worse, these days if you promote anything that does not add value it makes the game more difficult for you because traffic sources will flag your account. If you owned Google wouldn't you do the same? I would.

If your traffic stops every 3 months... that's not a "business".. What most people are doing is resorting to tools or tactics to game the system. All that does is creates more scarcity in your mind and reinforces your short-term thinking.

Social media is also making everything transparent. In the near future the only people that will survive are the ones adding value. That's what good marketers do - add value and solve problems.

Don't get me wrong... CPA is the future of online advertising, and it's good practice to run simple offers that convert easily. I say we all need to get more creative and find offers that are quality. All you have to do is ask your affiliate managers.

As marketers we have to deliver on our promises. That will ensure we have success for YEARS instead of weeks or months... and that will enable us to build real business and make the internet a better place.

CPA Empire Caught Stealing Traffic

The affiliate network CPA Empire was caught stealing traffic yesterday, according to one of its affiliates and the affiliate news blog Affiliate News Press. The company allegedly cloned one of its affiliate landing pages in order to steal traffic.

The affiliate had signed up for CPE and was promoting an offer for beauty products via a custom landing page and was making over $1000 a day. Soon after, his conversions dropped and he was told the advertiser wanted him to stop promoting.

He then discovered via a Google search that someone had cloned his landing page. There's where his traffic went! Upon viewing the html he discovered that CPAE was responsible and was trying to cover it up, costing him thousands of dollars.

An update to display URL policy

We'd like to give you advance notice of an update to our display URL policy, which will take effect on April 1st. While the majority of advertisers will not be affected at all, action will be required from those who are. Please take a few minutes to read this post thoroughly, as the information below should help you determine whether you will be affected by this change.

In response to advertiser and user feedback, and in an effort to provide more relevant advertising results and a higher quality experience for our users, we have made the decision to no longer allow certain exceptions with regards to our display URL policy. This includes, but is not limited to redirects and vanity URLs. This policy will be strictly enforced regardless of past approvals and will apply to all advertisers, beginning on April 1st.

In line with our existing policy, we will continue to require that your ad's display URL match its destination URL (the URL of your landing page).

For example, if your destination URL is www.google.com, your display URL must also be www.google.com. The following would not be acceptable display URLs for an ad for www.google.com:

* www.google.co.uk - because this URL leads to a different site
* www.gogle.com - even though this URL simply redirects to www.google.com it is still not acceptable
* www.gooogle.com - because this URL leads to a page showing content identical to www.google.com

What about tracking URLs?
We do understand that many advertisers utilize tracking URLs within the destination field of their ads. Therefore, if the URL of your landing page matches that of your display URL, your ads will be approved.

For example:

Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
--> Landing page URL: www.google.com would be acceptable

Display URL: www.google.com/adwords
Destination URL: www.trackingurl.com/google123
--> Landing page URL: www.trackingurl.com would not be acceptable

Are sub-domains still acceptable?
Yes, the use of sub-domains and additional text within the display will continue to be acceptable provided the top-level domain matches the URL of your landing page.

For example, display URLs such as the following:

sub.google.com
google.com/extratext
www.google.com/extratext

would all be acceptable for the landing page URL below, as the top-level domain of google.com is matched:

http://sub.google.com/miscellaneous

In light of this update to display URL policy, we'd encourage you to make any necessary changes to your ads in advance of the April 1st date to ensure that they'll run without disruption by future disapprovals related to this policy.

Google Ad Ranking Algorithm Revealed

Hal Varian from Google explains how to achieve good ranking position for your ads.

Google Cash Detective

I am getting hammered with emails with
my opinion on Chris' GCD.

I can't say that I really have one as
I haven't fully gone through Chris's software.

The first one sucked and Chris admits it.

The second one seems much more powerful
and is an incredible intelligence tool on

on Google Adwords.
